I started scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico in 1996 and quickly became an assistant instructor in 1997. Since then, I have taken pride in providing high-quality scuba training for all levels of students interested in recreational scuba diving.

My name is Raul Romero, and I am currently a Master Scuba Diving Trainer. I also hold a degree in marine environmental science from SUNY Maritime College, and have lived in New York since 2004.

Of course, New York City is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of diving, so when I arrived I was a bit concerned that my career as a scuba instructor would at best be limited to indoor pools, and at worst burn out altogether.

Little did I know that the opportunities in and around New York are almost limitless. I now teach courses in dry suit diving, wreck diving, as well as offering trips to the many dive sites and wrecks located in tri-state waters. Of course I still enjoy taking students back to the Caribbean — my home waters – where not only can I guide my divers as they explore the world famous reefs, but I can help them enjoy a worry-free on-land experience as well.

With more than 20 years of diving experience, including locally and abroad, I created Rey Diving in 2013. Rey Diving is dedicated to providing scuba training, from the beginner level to advanced diving, and several scuba specialties.

Rey Diving is also committed to maintaining a minimum impact on the environment both in how it runs its business and during its scuba training. In addition it vows to spread environmental and conservation awareness among scuba students both locally and around the world.
